We've optimized away almost every inconvenience in daily life and traded something for each one. GPS got us there faster, but who still knows their own city by feel? Recommendation algorithms decide what we watch, eat, and buy before we've had to think about it. Every friction we remove quietly takes a skill, a memory, or a chance encounter with it.
